I'm running an A4, but I'm open to all manner of causes, particularly
ones that would result in the shop buying me a new engine :)
So it'd slip at the crank? I'd thought that on these later engines,
both the cam and crank sprockets were keyed.

Just got it back together tonight. I'll tow it off in the next couple
of days and see where it goes from there. Shame the East River is so
far away. I'll give them a few days to look at the engine. Also gives
me a few days to read up on small-claims procedures. Can't hurt to be
able to sling some lingo. Then we have a gentleman's chat.
