Kevin and all : It sounded to me that Kevin was worried about a possible lack of lube in transmission had done damage . He said nothing leaked to outside --- so --not to worry.
the oil did not leak out.

He said that CV is being changed so nothing to worry about there. The only thing needed is a new good tight dust cap.

As to lubricating the NEW joint ---I totally agree with Loren and Roger ---- do a good
job and use lots of that muck I hate like the dickens.

I did use that stuff last time ---but I swore on a stack of Bentleys that next time I am
going to use Vaseline.

Kevin here is a nifty way of checking level in tranny. Take an old wheel stud and weld on
an American hexnut. Then the fillerplug can be removed with a ratchet --no problemo.

Fill tranny and oil should drain a little from filler hole while you install plug.

Hagar.

PS: Did I say totally ? --ummm IMHO hypoid oil better be ok for bearings
or all my trannys are in trouble. Kevin make sure you take a good look
at the oil you drain for small metal particles.
I forgot to mention that the one I had that was full of oil -----some internal
circlips had fallen off. ---so make sure all clips are secure.

What seals should I change? Is there an underlying cause of this that needs
correction? there may just be . Change dust cap for sure.
Remember this is fun---- so go to it.
