[Vwdiesel] Green Striped Engine

Thanks to you all for input regarding the green-striped engine. Yet,
the answer to my question is still not evident. I sure didn't expect
some of the responses as I thought all of the older diesels were
originally green. In anycase, I'll keep searching for the significance
of a green horizontal stripe running around the block with the remainder
of the block unpainted.

I've got a VWofCanada reman A1, 1600TD in my 87 jetta (sawed off the
front
mount) that I've put 100,000 trouble free km on, (ready for its next
T-belt) found it in a rusting 82 jetta in a ditch. Bought the car for
$250CDN (about $1:25US), parted it, gave the remains to the local FD to
play with. This thing runs beautifully, better than the original.
It's not green, just dirty.
