[Vwdiesel] Head rebuild questions

  Setting up the head is kind of a biggie.  After grinding valves and seats, 
the shims (or most likely hydraulic lifter geometry as well) will be way out 
of spec.  The stems need shortened to get back into the center of the 
adjustment range.
  With the warmer weather I wouldn't worry about flushing the head with 
hot water, blowing or shaking it off and letting it dry.  I'd just replace 
the 
exhaust valves rather than paying for grinding them.  The stems are 
usually fairly worn toward the head.  Not worth paying a fourth to half 
the cost of new to reface the old IMO.
