Interesting... I'll have to take a look at mine, although I don't have an NA one to compare 
with at the moment.
Which reminds me... while taking apart my 1.6TD, after removing the crank and placing 
on the bench, I found a small steel ball bearing, about 1/4" in diameter, rolling around 
the bench. It looked a bit like the steel balls that appear to be peened into parts of the 
crank, but I could not find anywhere that it came from. Is there a ball type check valve 
anywhere in the engine, in the oil pump perhaps?
