Usually by 160K miles even if it runs well, new injectors nearly always
will make enough improvement in running that most are glad they changed
them. They often start cold start smoking or poorer mileage at about
that time though. Even when the patterns look good, they are often quite
a bit more coarse than new injectors, at that age.
Low compression is something to keep in mind but it really isn't an
issue if it's even, it starts well and doesn't use much oil. Once it
doesn't start well on a cold morning and the glow plugs and injectors
are good, then you know it's likely the compression dropped below
self ignition when cold. :(
Like said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, unless you're like me! ;-)
