 True, that. The "fix" for subdermal injection of petroleum-based fluids is
to remove the afflicted tissue. If you see fuel dripping in the general
area, it may be leaking out in a spray so fine that you cannot see it and
gathering on a nearby surface.

Teflon tape does not do anything as far as sealing, on it's own. It only
serves to reduce friction in a tapered threaded connection so that the
threads can jam themselves together that much more tightly. Won't do a thing
for the compression fittings on the fuel lines, as James has mentioned.
