First of all, I filled the wife's car again today, didn't really need
it but I will be out of town for the next 17 days so I wanted to do it
before I left. Anyway, this tank was 90+% short distance in town
driving with one short over the road trip (about 90 miles), got 30 mpg.
  I am still pleased.

Secondly, I will be signing off the lists for a few weeks. I will be
in Colorado and Utah with 15 students on a camping trip studing the
geology and evironmental problems of the Central Rockies. It is
actually much more fun than it sounds. the students have to pay $750
plus tuition and fees to go so they tend to really want to be there and
want to learn. Anyway, when I get back on June 7, I will be home for
10 days and then we will hook the popup to the back of the Passat and
head up the midpart of the country first to the Black Hills, then over
to my brother-in-laws in Eastern Washington state (Pasco/Kennewick for
those that know the area), then up past Grand Coulee Dam and up into
Canada. We intend to spend a couple of day in the Calgary area and
then head east towards Moosejaw and then Winnepeg. Finally coming back
into the US into N. Dakota and then Minnesota and Wisconsin and Iowa
before heading back south to Texas. I am considering signing up for
Earthlink's 800 dialup service during that trip so I might be able to
arrange some meetings along the way with some of you folks. So, if you
are in Colorado or Utah and see a 15 passenger Chevy van pulling a 6x12
Uhaul trailer with10 girls and 4 guys and a teacher hanging out the
drivers window. Wave! Hayden
