I currently do hardwood floors for a living. Last year I had a one month job
that was over an hour away and my work van was a dodge 1/2 ton with a v-8. I
pulled out the passenger and rear seat of my diesel jetta and hauled all of
the installation equipment back and forth for 2 1/2 weeks. I then hauled the
sanders back and forth for a week or so. I averaged 52 mpg for the month. I
figure I saved between $10 and $15 a day. I was moving between 7000 ft. and
5000 ft. and the jetta did fine loaded to the gills.
