Definitely a last resort ... can't afford to have the car off the road right now.  Maybe spring  if the sh!t really hits the fan and things get worse.

  It is in the plate that is in the bellhousing area.  It's the center of the pressure plate.  To access it you need to remove tranny.  Only way to check that I know of.  Good news is that the tranny is very lightweight and fairly easy to remove.  A new plate (with rivet) should come with a clutch/pressure plate kit.  Exhaust other possibilities before delving in, but changing a clutch in these is very easy IMO.  Get a new rear seal while your at it, if there is any question about leakage.  Also input shaft seal, and there is a very small oil seal that goes inside the input shaft and seals the clutch pushrod.
