You mean his FW was installed in holes other than those intended??
I'm looking for evidence (in absence of a PP assy here at present) that the
FW can be indexed 60 degrees off. I would welcome some insight in to how the
idiot did this and ended up with the engine running. I can't believe he
drilled another hole in the PP assy.
He had to get the engine timed well enough to hand back to the owner
running, after putting the FW on wrong. That took some talent. The
calculated 61.8 degree offset suggests he didn't quite get it right, just
winged it, and the behavior of the injection advance substatiates this.
I will be striving to get it closer, both cam and pump, but I have to probe
for TDC to get a starting point.
I don't want to open it up at this time, just change the belt and tune, but
I have a terrible curiosity to know how idiots get away with what my father
used to call "hammer mechanics".
I want to know how this was screwed up!
Sandy
