  There are simply, two upper body lengths of injectors.  I've never seen 
that they pertain to anything in particular other than the tall ones tend 
to be on Audi's more than VW.  Just keep all the internals together 
where they came from and all is generally fine.  
  Doing the "clean up" on the mating parts brings the pressures up to 
the new injector range when installing a new injector.  No need to change 
shims or anything unless you're changing things from what it was.  
  I've never opened an injector with more than one shim in it but there's 
no reason you can't stack them.
