Did you also notice that the hole in the bracket was much larger than
the bolt was? That was the case in my '81, I recall it was a 10mm hole
and and 8mm bolt ow solething like that. That slop would allow the
bracket to rack back and forth that 2mm and it worked like a bolt cutter
eventually shearing off first one bolt then finally the 2nd one. I took
out the bracket, drilled out the threaded holes and put in a full sized
bolt and after that, never had to touch the belts once I tightened them
properly.
