[Vwdiesel] Brake SNAFU

  The check valve is so you still have brake vacuum when the car sits 
mostly.  So if you need to coast and stop there's still something in 
there.  Makes for quicker brakes when you start and go too.  It really 
doesn't make much difference for while running.  
  Pumps can wear and not pull much vacuum.  Mine had way too much 
clearance between the rotor/vanes and the top of the chamber.  Lid was 
scored too.   A little time on a rotary table sander did wonders!
