[Vwdiesel] Cat converter

Well, since I have an eco diesel and it has a cat on it, I can't remove it
due to inspection requirements. What is the out come if I just hollow it out
and add 2.25 inch pipe the rest of the way back?  Is it worth it?  From all
that I have read online it is. Why in the world would they even put a cat on
a diesel back in 91. I can see today maybe with the advancement of computer
controlled fuel delivery and all but back then?  

 

Oh was going to do a compression test. In a gasser your suppose to do it
with the engine warmed up. Well I'm a little leery on pulling the injectors
out of the aluminum head when it is still a little warm. Don't want any
threads coming out with them. So can a cold compression test be worth
anything?  Any hints as to getting good readings.
