  Ideally you'd want a through pipe in the converter.  The turbulence  of 
an open cat can cause a loss in flow I've read.  Another big choke 
point is the downpipe from the turbo.  Best I can figure it's about 1 1/2" 
ID.  Aparently the cat made the feds happy in '91.
   Injectors typically aren't an issue for pulling threads.  I've seen a 
couple heads where the frontal thread area has been cracked and 
broken out but never seen a stripped one... yet.  They usually seem 
to come out easier warm.  Compression specs are for warm so unless 
you do both anyway, you don't know how much the difference is.  Just 
don't do it warm and wet!
