If I buy the pump through the dealership, and have them install it, the pump
AND the labor will be warranted for 12 months / 12k miles. And any time
during that period, if the pump fails, it'll be replaced at no charge. No
labor charges either.
I sure expected to get a lot more miles than just 112k out of my injection
pump. }:o(
I think there's only been one other list member that had that bad of
luck. I think he was on his 3rd pump by that time and NO warranty
on any of them. Claimed the failure was from improper lubrication.
The fact that it don't run if there's no fuel to lubricate it didn't seem
to matter.
Maybe you could set it ahead a full tooth so that it can't retard it
enough to get really late timing. ;-) No possibility of some sensor
being screwed so it's retarding it on purpose to "fix" the situation
and THAT is what's causing the noise and retardation? Just a
thought.
