Aside from that, it has better corosion resistance, and it
can be deposited in thinner layers. I believe (i can check)
that silver is still favored for mirrors, buth large and small.

Yes silver for mirrors. deposited chemically, but gold is used, because the
metal of kings does not tarnish, but silver wouldn't tarnish in space
without oxygen either... really, it is the most malleable, not deposited at
all- it can be pounded out to gold leaf- like what, half a thou thick? One
ounce can make a hell of a pile of foil. It's dense, and yes has higher
mass, but it takes less mass to accomplish ths same task than similar
amounts of other metals that would need to be thicker to stay together.
