Bear with me guys I'm learning but it takes me
awhile. I have to lay awake at night to work up these questions :)
thanks,
Bart
Bart Wineland : Take your time --- the gang is still here.
First and most important --learn how to use archives. I have only a phoneline
but here it works like a charm --even when I am not on line. My wipeout may
be set for 30 or 60 days ? --- but text takes little room on a hard drive. That is
one reason this site works so well. NO monster files.
On a non hydraulic head the caps on cam are kind of weak so there I would test for tight
bolts and sloppy cam bearings. Pushing a valve may increase clearance.
But 10 pi ---- is not the end of the world. BUT BUT keep a cool head.
Turn fueling screw back about a turn. And advance pump a pencil line at the time
to see if smoke clears. ------ NO hillclimbing or traffic --- you must get her humming first.
For troubleshooting use heavy oil. And keep monitoring temp.
Keep TUNING to see if you can make her sound happy. But most important
let us know that you checked what we asked you to check ?.
If Hillbilly TUNING does not get her humming.? lets lean on the REAL mechanics.
By the way I saw a Re-Ring of a piston on the Shanghai -Express . It was on monster ships or
something . I like those programs --- choppers -ships -machinery and how things are made.
A Rabbit could be parked on top of that piston. My home town Copenhagen did the job.
Burmeister and Wain Diesel shop. ---Send your engine there and it WILL run when it
comes back. - cost ? 50 grand maybe.
Hagar.
PS : B & W sure do fine machining. ---- on those BIG ones. Now it is MAN -B&W
and what not. ------ Funny there was no way of running in ---it is a direct
drive. 93 000 HP not bad. Runs on bunker C. (like tar)
Yeah I grew up in the cradle of BIG diesels. but to me Burmeister sounds German
and Wain ? UK ish.
