Ya lost me on this one Hagar, what do you mean my
non-hydraulic block?
Are you calling a block with oil squirter's a
hydraulic block?
please clarify.
Thanks
Bryan

Bryan and ALL : sorry my fault ---I had a "Bad Hair Day" so my writing was not
to good. Pun intended ( I got hairy tongue ) .

Roger Brown and Loren got it right. I was alluding to the fact that Bart Wineland
said that he took a 1989 Hydraulic Lifter head and installed it on a rebuilt older
type block. I asked him for the block letters (number would be nice too). So far
I have not found it. And NO I am not calling a squirted block a hydraulic block, I
was trying to figure out where all his oil pressure goes.

VW did modify the oil-systems on models as the years went by. That may be a problem when
mixing parts.

IMHO the idiot lights are to blame when beginner DIY gets a Rabbit. ---a new Rabbit
may have 100 psi ---- an old one may run ok for years with 3 psi measured at head
when warm. Bart Wineland think about putting in a real high quality BOILERGAUGE..

They can be found in 1.5 inch diameter I have one here that may be 16 inches. On the
dash in my GM V8 is a 6 inch. Like the VW the GM is a high FLOW system.
And as such there is a lot of difference from cold to hot.

IMHO the high flow system is used as part of the cooling system.

On a NON hydraulic head Rabbit the running problem and the Oil pressure
would be two different problems.

On a hydraulic head Rabbit ? I do not know.

Hagar.

PS : A 16 inch precision gauge ? yup on a hydraulic press it is calibrated in
pounds pressure. (got the whole thing from a dumpster).
