[Vwdiesel] '83 1.6 TD update

I worked on the '83 1.6TD again this weekend.  I swapped the rear springs, 
rear shocks and front proportioning valve (after dismantling and cleaning it) 
from an '86 parts van I have and put on a new slave cylinder and rear brake 
pads.  Don't know what all cured what, but it seems to have good brakes, no leaks, 
no swerving, and no leaning.  Took it on a 20 mile joyride this evening.  The 
van is just a joy to drive.  It is not quite as quick as my I4 ABA 2.0L 
gasser, but the 5-speed with big tires on the rear makes a very nice combo.  
Certainly does a whole lot better than my '81 aircooled and the fuel gauge doesn't 
dive down any where near as fast.  It is comfortable cruising at 65, and 
haven't met a hill yet that was too much for it (I know they are out there).  There 
are two 1-mile 8% grades in the area.  They go from 5000 ft to 7000 ft.  I 
will report back when I take one of those.  The rear springs and shocks 
definitely improved the ride, and its very nice to have good brakes
