I am going to Bud in.----- IMHO having kept my ear to the ground , the
combined electrical expertise in this forum ---will sort this one out.
IMHO it is non practical issue like ducking under the table or running the tap
to get rid of lead.
As a brain teaser it is a winner. ------ A LOT of us need to learn about electrolysis.
So I am here hammer and tong. I prefer to learn about the basics rather than
your problem. --- BUT I will help there too if I can.
My claim to shame (fame?) I was born and grew up in the cradle of ALUMINIUM.
Copenhagen Denmark ----so I brag at times about us kids there we were brainwashed
(educated) about aluminium (maybe cheese did not sell that year).
Great metal --I like it -- but keep it out of your house-wiring. - It takes about 11 Kwh
of electricity to make a pound of aluminium.----NOTICE electricity.?
That will in the end bring us back to ELECTROLYSES.
To fully understand the process you need to learn the word GALVANIC --- look it up.
Bud tell us if you are knowledgeable about electricity --and where those instructions came from.
Why do I preach and preach use marine grade eversleeze on everything ? GALVANIC
protection. ----ZINC use ZINC ---Nothing protects steel better than ZINC that I know of.
In Buds case the Voltage reading has no meaning without an AMP reading. The current
ruins your heater core not voltage. Theoretically you could have 50 volts showing and no
problems.
And 0.0050 Volt showing and a holed core. But there must be a reason that the people
specified 0.30 Volts ? lets find it. Buds logic is OK so far.? ----
I hate absolutely HATE aluminium in radiators and motor windings --it is the scourge of us
DIY guys. Gimmi that good old brass Rad anytime.
Hagar.
PS I am galvanized to the screen.
