I do hardwood floors for a living. I am currently working on a floor where I
am getting a very nice hot tub in exchange for some of the labor. The hot
tub is currently in a room that I will be installing wood flooring in next week.
Sunday before last I looked out into my yard and realized that I had three
inoperable vehicles parked in the way of where the hot tub needs to be put. I
have a hill for a driveway. Not a big hill, but big enough to have made it
difficult to get them there. The diesel camper was the one I wanted working the
most, and probably the easiest to get working. Just a simple engine swap.
Piece of cake. 1.6 NA removal, 1.6TD installation. I opted to install the TD
sans turbo, temporarily of course, as there is an interference between the
turbo wastegate and the driver's side motor mounting bracket. Last week I worked
8-9 hours swinging a BIG hammer (installing wood flooring), and then came
home every evening and did another 3 hours on the van. Sat. and Sun. I put in
twelve each on the van. Yesterday, I worked again on the floor for 8 hours, and
then came home for three more. Today I took off from flooring and worked on
the van for 12 hours. After that engine sat in my yard for 2 1/2 years, once
I got it installed it started right up. Quite impressive. The engine is
fairly clean. All seals and gaskets are changed (except the head), and boy oh boy
do I need that hot tub!!! Next on the van will be the mount fabrication,
intercooler, gauges, beer and relaxation.
