[Vwdiesel] coolant flow

I am very interested in this subject for I am about to design the hose configuration for my vanagon conversion. I am installing a 1.8 liter gas engine in an auto trans vanagon. I am using the factory engine oil to water cooler but I have deleted the trans oil to water cooler, in favor of a direct oil to air cooler. I was going to imitate the diesel vanagon hose routing but will now make sure to pull from the bottom of the radiator, whether or not the factory did it, just to be safe. I don't see how it would hurt and have seen many occasions where the old waterboxer was trying to be air-cooled. Lots of spun water pumps after the compression gases came in. YIKES!
