[Vwdiesel] door question

Over time the tabs inside the door bend slightly and no longer mate
exactly with the lever from the door handle that pushes them down. I
know that VW had some plastic tabs that could be fitted over the ends
of the operating tabs inside the door. I bought some when I had my 85.
Unfortunately they only fit the front doors (at least the ones I
bought). I have often wondered if you could simply cut a piece of
nylon tubing, slide it over the tab, and accomplish the same thing.
Might be worth a try before you head to the dealer. Hayden
