Lets see so many questions so many possible answers... ;-)
We got Quantums here, wagons and sedans, just weren't too popular since
you could buy an Audi for not much more money. I have a sedan that would
be a good car for someone that needed one. Just not worth the tme so I
got it for the TD and the 5 speed.
Lifetime fill on these wasn't synthetic. About all cars in the US are sold
as "lifetime" transmission fluid being there. Then the fine print says
except for 30K change intervals for severe use. The description of
severe use covers about 90% or better of all our driving. It's just
80W/90 and needs changed to synthetic.
The oil fill hole is a hold-over from the 4 speed. As said, too low to
allow
filling the 5th gear area. Shops don't really need to fill through the
speedo
hole as they have pumps and can jack one side and fill it. Problem is 90%
of the independant shops and half the dealers probably don't know that most
of the 5 speed fill holes are too low by mis design. Try filling it with 2L
through
the filler hole and not being a LATE 5 speed, and you'll spill about a pint
of
fluid on the ground Hagar.
