To all ... sometimes lurking doesn't result in my
musing questions answered definitively.
So ... what is experiences definitive advice as to
how much to fill the early '80s 5 speeds. If I
remember correctly ... mine took what the Bentley
specified (pg. 1-12) with the car level as on the
ground. It specifies 2.6 U.S. pints, 2.2 Imperial
pints ... I don't have conversions from that to
the liters you are talking about just to UK and
that's different it seems Bentley doesn't seem to
specify more or less for the 5 speed ... so are we
talking about more for the 5 speed than the 4 ...
or are we talking about what's needed to get some
up to the physically higher 5th gear ... or both?
Miser's block idea to account for it is a good
idea ... I just like to understand so I am not
doing a "monkey see ... monkey do."
Sandy's "The speedo gear on the jackshaft should
always be covered with oil (not visible)" is good
advice ... does that apply to all trannys?
