Title says it - I think I have determined at least one *incorrect* way -
drilling
the centre and trying to pry out, which took a lot of fiddling and
chiselling.
I'm guessing drilling, then insert a threaded bolt &pulling somehow would
work better? How about the little oil gallery plugs (about 12-14mm in size at
each end) - or should I leave these for the shop to do?
I always chiseled a slot into it then use a big screwdriver or angle ended
pry bar to pry them out. Once it's part way out, channel locks work
great using the "heel" of them to lever it out.
It's a good idea to do the oil plugs but then they're dificult to find
replacements for and get them to stay in properly too. Dave Barbieri
formerly of this list, had a shop installed one pop out and had to tear
things down to find the problem, clean it up and reinstall and stake.
