Just a one question. Since I have to pull my pistons back out to see why
the rings didn't seat and the engine only has 5k on the rebuild, it is a
good idea to replace the connecting rod bolts and nuts, correct? Does
anyone have the part numbers handy for these out of a 91 ECO TD 1.6?
I've had shops tell me I HAVE to replace the rod bolts since they're
stretch.
When I exclaim back at them about why on Earth!!??? Then each one
has come back with "Oh, that's a diesel isn't it? Nevermind then."
Apparently only the gassers got stretch bolts and we never even replace
them at the dealer (may have been before they implemented them). A
friend's shop never has either and has never had a failure.
No need to replace them that I know of. :-)
