If you are doing an "aftercooler", I would leave the
EGT guage out.  If no intercooler on the 1.6td, you
need it.

I am just going to do boost, oil temp and oil
pressure, but it would be nice to have volts too
somewhere...


  Personally I'd be more inclined to forego a boost gauge instead of 
a pyrometer.  Boost gauge, once things are set up pretty much 
only tends to indicate a dirty air filter, if you have any readings 
below zero.  Your EGT is useful for letting you know things have 
cooled down for shutdown, it'll indicate a bad injector, a change in 
max fuel (minimum air = dirty air filter).  It'll indicate if changes to 
the exhaust or intake have really helped breathing.  Boost changes 
can also be felt pretty much so if one or the other. I'm a hands down
believer in knowing your EGT.  :-)
