'H'
I'm no Spaceship expert; but I feel that the cone probably
adds fuel in the form of y=mx +c .
'X' is probably a parametric function of rpm and engine
loading!
The 'C' (Initial fuel level) is altered with rotation of the
cone and
the 'm' (rate of change of fueling) is fixed for any
particular cone and somehow linked to the numbers on the
bottom of the cone ('34' for all 3 of my LDA's)
Position and length of this straight fuelling line can be
shifted along the 'x' axis causing a delay of the fuelling
by means of the top screw. It also has a slight effect on
the gradient 'm' which is also altered by the star-nut and
is effectively altering the rate of additional fuel delivery
for additional load (turbo boost).
Different spring stiffnesses also alter the rate of
additional fuel for any given engine loading/rpm combi...

I feel that the ideal cone may be of a curved profile
[instinctively] probably slightly convex; a bugger to
machine though compared to a straight cone. Maybe this is
where the computerised TDI comes into its own.

Feel free to shoot down this gibberish totally; or just
'wing' me (8^D)
