[Vwdiesel] Cam lobe wear?

It isn't perfect, but doesn't have extreme wear. I would hesitate to polish
or anything, the lobes are wear matched to the corresponding followers, and
you just put it all back the way it came off... that is #1 exhaust follower
to #1 exhaust lobe etc etc. The shot of the lobe end on is too pointy to be
worn much. When they are really worn, the shiny spot is much bigger. Are
the followers scuffed or are they smooth and shiny? that's usually how I
make the call if the cam is iffy. If the follower is rough, pitch the lot
and start over.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Cam lobe wear?

I hadn't taken a good look at my TD cam since I took it apart last year, and
now I see it seems to have a fair bit of wear on the lobes. The pointed
parts are smooth an shiny, but the rest of the lobes show some scuffing -
how much is acceptable? Is there anything I can do to polish this myself, or
should I look for a used cam, or have it polished?

I've posted some pics here, any advice appreciated...
