is easy to go into the engine
compartment with premade clip jumpers directly to the + battery post and
apply power to the FI pump solenoid and also apply power to the glo plug
buss if you know what you are doing.
That's the rub. IF they know what they're doing. If they know diesels
then it'll be tough keeping it from them. If they just know diesels make
good mileage or "it's a car" then the simple fixes should work. Sort of
like my work van. ANYBODY that has ever tried to drive it gets it jambed
into 2nd or 3rd almost immediately and then can't get it out. :-) Add that
to no power to the power brakes and a really stiff clutch (that actually
DOES release for the last few years) I figure they won't go far before
giving up! Until I rebuilt the shift and clutch linkage I'd guarantee they
wouldn't get much further than a couple blocks before abandoning it! ;-)
I like the idea of a defeat switch. If it's not flipped then after a
couple
minutes it either shuts off the fuel or opens to atmosphere letting air into
the system and stalling the car. Then if they DO know diesels, it'll look
like a legit fuel problem. :-)
