Possibly but most of them want something faster than a diesel. :-)

In NO way the same. Sure it may be loud but those of us who like
music, won't turn it up loud enough to hurt, damage or distort. Kids
in their boom-boom cars care nothing about sound quality, or KNOW
nothing about it and don't comprehend the permanance of hearing
damage.
You also wouldn't hear my sub (if I ever get it in!) for blocks away. You
MIGHT hear it near the car but the idea of a quality system with a sub
and a boom-boom system is the sub is *just* noticeable in the quality
system. It's the predominant speaker in a boom-boom.
A friend's son took his car in to have an amp and sub or woofer box at
least, installed. He borrowed the car and couldn't even listen to the
radio! If you turned it up loud enough to hear audible frequencies, the
subs were just rattling away in back, even when the bias knob was
turned all the way down! I told him his son needed to take it back
and have it done right or give him his money back. The sub was so
over the top you couldn't hear anything but booming and rattling.
Personally an 8" is plenty in a car, maybe a 10". Multiples and
15" woofers are ridiculous. We used two 15's to put on a dances in
the school multi use room which was about 2/3 the size of the gym,
certainly bigger than a car!
