Not sure if it the same as on my '81 and '82, but I found that the K&N filter I have fits the filter housing much better than
the paper ones do. The main thing I noticed was that the K&N fits tight enough that it'll stay in place in the vertical air box
while getting the cover in place to clip it on. The paper filters just fall out as soon as you let go. I had a similar issue
in my old '78 gas Rabbit.
