[Vwdiesel] "leaning out" diesel????????

Tuning a radio receiver in no way bears any resemblance to a diesel engine,
especially a volks. Tuning implies variables.
Volkswagen has phenomenal reproduction capabilities, and have had machining
tolerances for decades that other manufacturers have only attained quite
recently. When the variables are eliminated, no, you do not have 10,000
different rabbits running around the continent, you have essentially 10,000
identical engines that engineers and machinists have busted their asses to
make exactly identical.
As a flyboy, YOU should understand this concept. I can accept changes due
to wear, and internal pump wear altering injected pressures, yes, and if it
is not functioning correctly, then you have to fudge a bit, and I have too
in very rare circumstances. That would be rare, not usual in the slightest.
But to pontificate that doing it by ear is necessary because they are all
different, that is pure utter rubbish.
You win races by consistent reproducible excellence and that means nitpicky
measurements. I can set up a car using measurements to get a baseline, and
if the setup sucks at the track, I change it by altering a variable by a
known amount, not just by guessing. If it is a good setup, I never will
get it the same again except by pure good fortune, unless I measure, record,
and have some form of reproduceability.
I think it's safe to say I understand the difference between tuning and
timing, no worries.
I also think that's enough for now, this is quite likely only entertaining
to the two of us, and I would like to spend my time helping folks fix cars,
not trying to explain the seemingly unexplainable.
Riddle me this.
What pump timing are you running on your rabbit? Measure it, lemme know.
What is a good experimenter without data?
I still bet that it's a tad either way of 1.0 mm.

This just doesn't have to be so complicated. It's a pump setting using an
accurate ruler called a dial indicator. It can't get much easier, and
certainly doesn't need to be turned into a big wizard's art thing..
I guess this means I'm not a pump gang member.
Oh well
-james
James IMHO you are a Pump gang member----The wizard thing ? ---comes in
when you
realize that If you have say 10 000 Rabbits (Old Rabbits in North
Amerika) and that
means 10 000 different settings.
THEN and only THEN do you understand.----it means Individual
adjusting----not to a table.
I am proud to be a Hillbilly Tuning member --Why ? because I know it
works.----You
cant argue with performance ? --can you ? ---You James Hansen should know ?
you win or
you do not ?
James Hansen is a race driver --and that means perform or not. There is NO
substitute for
Victory ---Ja ?
Now my Race is get to the office (salt mine) at minimum cost --???? and I
am a Winner
thanks to Hillbilly TUNING.----would that kind of TUNING win a race
--sure would.
To simplify TUNING ---line up 10 000 Halicrafter receiver's --? --- each
receiver has to
be TUNED to a good signal ? Ja ---you bet your butts.---Using the DIAL
? --forget
it.--TUNE it.
Svend.
PS : If you do NOT understand the difference between TUNING and TIMING
--have a nice
day.
