[Vwdiesel] Re: Driving Alt after removal of a/c

I saw one somewhere on a forum where the guy had mounted the alt way up
high in the engine compartment. It was a bastdardized AC mod. It
looked like a good idea to get the alternator up out of the soup of road
grime.

Arn,
Not a problem. Leave the Alt where it is. You will need to change the
pully on the alt and use a different crank pully. I used the crank
pully off of a 1.5 gasser, don't remember where the different alt pully
was sourced from. Then all you have to do is find a belt that fits.
The best way is to have a source of parts cars to mix and match. The
belt run is a little long, but I seemed to have less problems with the
alt loosening up. If you are picture capable on your email account I
can see if the digital camera can get a picture of my setup.
