[Vwdiesel] dang blast it...here's some soda for you

It's supposed to be gone. lead that is, but I seriously doubt that all the
old paint stocks are gone either. Blasting old cars is bad. But so is
sanding them. Really be conscious of where the dust you create goes... like
where your kids play is really really BAD to have any lead, as kids are
really sensitive to lead, whereas adults take very high levels to have any
effects at all. Thsi goes for old house paint as well.
Soda blasting is the nicest finish I have ever seen as far as auto
refinishing goes. Absolutely no damage to the metal whatsoever, you can
blast directly on rubber parts, chrome, etc with no damage, BUT, there is
soda coming out of the dash vents, the carpet, the seats, the headliner for
YEARS afterwards. I would only consider it if I was doing a total body off
restoration with the interior stripped. Cleanup really sucks the biggie
after that stuff, it's just everywhere. A puff of white every frickin time
the heater blower starts for years and years....

My understanding is that in the last 10-12 years the lead pigmentation
in automotive paint has been highly reduced or eliminated. Anyone
with better knowledge?
