Michael,
Take the power straight from the battery. I have 2 meter rigs installed
in my 79 Diesel Rabbit and 95 Diesel 'Burb. And had one in my 95 Neon.
The best place to get power is from the positive post of the battery.
This will act like a noise suppressor and keep alternator noise out of
the radio. When you run you wire fwd to the battery also run a ground.
Don't hook it up to the neg. post of the battery, but hook it up where
the lighter chassis ground (not the heavy main ground wire) wire hooks
up to the chassis. This will keep the radio from becoming a ground path
if the main and chassis ground wires come loose from the neg. post. It
is also suggested that both power and ground wires are fused. I haven't
done this, but if I had more expensive rigs then Rad. Shack I probably
would.
Justin
