It is true that after they are removed and burned or rotted they replace the 
same amount, but while being a forest they ARE a tremendous amount of fixed 
carbon.  When that forest is removed, burned or rotted and replaced by a field 
for grazing cattle, that carbon is not fixed.  I am not oposed at all to the 
logging industry.  My family is in the wood industry in Maine.  I do wood 
floors.  I am a carbon sink.  I Fix carbon to subfloors where hopefully it won't rot 
or burn.  Wood is a nice renewable resource.  I am opposed to removing large 
amounts of trees and not replacing them.    Responsible use of resources and 
achieving a workable cycle that seems key to me.
