In my neck 'o the woods there are quite a few A1 VW's still chugging
about- diesel and gas. The dry southern Idaho climate is likely a part
of the reason and with an agricultural economy, folks tend to stretch
dollars pretty hard! Gas is $1.93 and diesel is $2.29 or thereabouts!

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Diesel Rabbit sightings

Where I live in central Illinois, some Diesel Rabbits seem to have
survived while gassers have been gone awhile. Odd thing is that in
theory, they should have rusted out long ago. I've wondered why the
colors that tend to go flat, like Tornado Red, seem to last longer.
There's an A1 Jetta td that I see periodically that appears to be
slowly rotting away; it's a metallic silver. About as many A2
Diesels, maybe a dozen between both generations.
A Rabbit D I didn't know about just showed up in the paper, but
owner thinks it's made of gold.
In the last two weeks, I've seen 4 tdi's I've never seen before,
one a Passat- this in a town of 30k souls.
Diesel has been hovering between $2.03 and $2.11, depending on the
vendor.
