  As much as the gp thread has proven to be interesting and thought 
provocative, isn't it somewhat like incorporating wear indicators into 
drill bits?
  I've replaced, I'd guess about 3 to 5 glow plugs, between my Rabbit and 
Dad's pickup in the last 15 years.  It's just one of those things that 
often isn't an issue so a sensor array to detect the lack of electrons 
flowing through one can be diagnosed and replaced in less than 20 
minutes generally, when it happens.
  Sure it's a nifty idea and if you have time to dabble...  :-)  Maybe I'm 
just so short on time lately that I'm overly cynical.
