I almost bought a Dasher diesel wagon years ago. It was *slow*, but the engine was 
pretty tired. All are front wheel drive, with the Audi style trans (longitudinal mount 
engine). One other option, only in Canada, is the 93-95 Passat wagon with 1.9TD IDI 
engine. There was also a G60 Syncro version of this car sold around 91-94, so a TD 
Syncro Wagon could be built if one could find all the parts. Not quite as rare as a 5 
speed Vanagon diesel, at least around here. I've seen the odd G60 Syncro around, 
but they didn't sell that many, all were wagons if I recall.
