[Vwdiesel] Handy Andy's Quantum Quest

I am somewhat interrested in acquiring a turbo diesel wagon
and so am doing
some research.  I am looking at the pre-1996 IDI diesels, as
the TDI's seem to
be out of my comfort-price range.
I am unfamiliar with what Audi models came as wagons, with
diesel engines, or
with all-wheel-drive.  Any info on Audi models is
appreciated.
Can someone correct me if I'm wrong about the following.
The only vw diesel
wagons were the fox (two door only), the dasher (n/a only)
and the quantum.
Are the dasher and quantum front or rear wheel drive?

...FWD  except 'Q's synchro...

The dasher I understand did not come with the turbo diesel
option.
Were there any turbo diesel quantum synchro wagons, or were
all of the
synchro wagons 5-cyl gas (in the USA)?
Were any of the quantum sychro wagons 4-cylinder models?

...I dont think so but was there a golf/Rabbit 1.8 'GX'
block?...

...Bell housing incompatable between 4 and 5 cylinder BUT is
the gearbox/diff  interchangable? I should have checked this
with a paper profile when I had a chance :o(...

Anyone with a 4-door 4-cylinder (could be gas) wagon they
wish to part with?
