I don't recall hearing any negatives other that the reduced fuel
mileage on Fred's www.tdiclub.com. I do know that one of the more
popular things to do is get a set of manual transmission injectors
(larger) and put in the auto equipped car. They are usually reasonable
to pick up. I am not sure if it requires an adjustment with the VAG-COM.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Any issues - late model "autos"
Thinking about buying the wife a 00-04 Golf TDI. but it must be an
automatic. (grrrr).
Are there any issues with buying, say, a car with 50,000 miles, then
expecting to get another 50-100k w/o any major tranny problems? I much
prefer a standard 5 speed, but wife refuses to drive a standard.
My '86 Golf (5-speed, yay!)should be out of the garage tomorrow.
(FINALLY) Garage bill is enormous !
The car really should've gone to the junkyard.....I hope I get some
miles out of it. The list of stuff they replaced/rejuventated/fixed/ is
as long as your arm.
