Greetings from the great white north.
Anyone know if there are any special precautions to take when removing the
passenger side airbag? Some Bavarian assmonkey designed the heater fan so
that it can't come out without disassembling most of the car... well, okay,
it came out, but no way is it going to go back in that way. I'm real
impressed to say the very least. I would assume standard disconnect the
battery and wearing a crash helmet and hans device while working on it would
suffice? Sort of wierds me out to be working on an explosive device built
by someone else... As always, any advice appreciated. Thanks

ps. someone else either here or on audi-vw mentioned that these cars seem
to have been built by hanging the hvac unit on sticks, and building the car
around it... That would seem a most accurate assessment. Sure isn't an A2.
That was a walk in the park.
Speaking of which, does anyone know, if somewhere in north america these
cars came without the passenger airbag, and a glovebox instead? My wife
would be overjoyed if I could nix the bag and get a real glovebox in that
car. There's no place to put anything bigger than the pocket change you get
from the drive through at Tim Horton's.
