Shucks, when moving across the country, I bought a 318 v8 dodge 1/2 ton van 
beater for $800.  I filled it full and towed my jetta.  I had a hose blow on a 
big hill leaving Albequerque, was back on the road the next day, and had the 
voltage regulator go out, again I was back on the road the next day.  Over 
3,000 miles total.  When we were moved, I used it for 1 1/2 years and then sold it 
for $1000.  Probably got better fuel mileage than a U-haul.  U-haul rental 
would have been $1500+.  Creativity is good.
