[Vwdiesel] insulating you're fuel filter

You need to remove a fuel line from the filter, and get some kero in to the
filter... take it off and dump some out, or most likely it is only half full
anyway. Heating the filter rarely works if it's almost empty as there is
nothing to conduct the heat to the filter element. BTDT, finally pulled the
filter off, and dumped nothing out, it was plugged with paraffins, and fuel
was mostly sucked out of it by the pump- no more fuel could get in to the
filter from the tank side, so the pump ate what fuel it could get out of the
filter before stalling. filled the filter with kerosene, drove away in five
minutes. Learned a lot that day.
Good luck.

Well, looks like still have a problem. Gallon of gas/kerosene didn't work.
The sad part is that this fuel was treated with additives when it was filled
and about twice after, so its not like there is not enough in there ...
Poor car barely made it 5 min from the house. Yesterday it was fine, but it
was warmer. Guess today I'll go get some fuel line and re-arrange my heater
until the winters over. And to think I was looking for something to do when
its -20C ...
