[Vwdiesel] Pre-filters

I second the motion of using a pre-filter. In my case, I use one of the
glass filter, with a replaceable plastic (or nylon) cartridge. I don't buy
replacement cartridges, I just remove them, and clean with brake cleaner.

Makes the expensive(ish) VW main filter last a lot, lot longer. Plus, when
it clogs as you are driving, it's a quick change to a clean element. I hve
my pre-filter right at the fuel tank outlet, so it is easy to access. 3
minutes, and diesel fuel on my hands (:-)), and I'm on my way.

I keep a couple wrenches, and a screw driver to plug the hose under the
passenger seat just for this app.
