Well I've got a big smile on my face today! I've been monitoring fuel
consumption after filling the tank to the top after anywhere from 100-200 km
test runs. With the original exhaust I had been achieving about 51-55 MPIG
depending on how heavily loaded the car was. 55 represents a full tank of
fuel, just the driver and no extra junk in the trunk. Today I got the
results of my first test run with the new exhaust system. Full tank, empty
trunk and just fatso me in the car. I logged 175 km, mostly highway at 100
km/h, some 400 Hwy at 120 km/h.and some in town light-to-light driving. I
just achieved a whopping 67 MPIG. (Miles Per Imperial Gallon) Yippee!
That's about 4.3 litres/100 km. This represents an improvement of about
22%. That is just from the improved breathing of the new exhaust system
alone. No other changes were made. When I was getting numbers in the low
50's I was thinking that I wanted to beat 60 MPIG. Now I want to try to
beat 70. This is fun. ;) Time approaching for best low rolling resistance
tire selection, better wind dam on the front and hillbilly tuning. Propane
fumigation may help too.

Unfortunately my clutch is slipping badly now and loses grip easily unless I
am easy on the loud pedal. I'll have to deal with that very soon. What a
PITA job that I'm not looking forward to. :( What is the easiest way to do
this?

Rob
